Do any of the default playback / video settings need to be changed?
I noticed that DirectSound is on by default, so had to change that. Any other options need to be changed / tweaked (ie. Bilinear, Directshow video) ?

usually, no. the specifics are more or less used if what you're seein' doesn't satisfy you.
