Media Player Classic

Damn, I thought VLC was good. Media Player Classic is awesome.

Plays everything even Real and Quicktime and has got a ton of extra features that even surpasses VLC. Plus no bloat like WMP and Winamp.

I can't believe not so many people use it. I'm sold.

I've been using MPC for a few years now. I also like BSplayer and ZoomPlayer, but always find myself going back to MPC.

I have been using it for quite some time now. It is recommended at these forums all the time.

i've used MPC in the past but i switched to BSPlayer because you can skip forward or backward in a video without using the mouse. are there keyboard mappings for skipping forward and back in MPC?

MPC for me since I realized Media Player 7 was bloatware.

Why no love? Well, WMP seems to work well for me, so i haven't bothered with any other ones, that's why.

You say this plays .mov files?

It may be worth switching if so.

Actually, there's a lot of love for it. Anytime someone asks about how to get a video to play or what player is recommended, MPC usually comes up 1 or 2. You can search "media player classic" for plenty of results and i'm sure plenty more if you could search "mpc"

Yeah. They're pretty customizeable, too.

Default is CTRL + Left/Right arrow, I think.

For shame . . ..

actually i play most things in WMP10, the rest in zoom player

the only time i use MPC is when its a QT or RM file, which is really rare these days, or when WMP10 has a codec issue for whatever reason

MPC eats about 3x as much CPU as WMP10 or Zoom does playing the same file at the same resolution

Wait wait wait... since when is WMP bloat?

Since MS released version 7 . . . :p

Last time I checked WMP used very little memory and since it's already installed with windows, it's not like you are getting rid of it. Why bother with anything else if WMP works fine? Only time I use anything else is for .mov and .avi, no hair off my back though. I rarely see any .mov or .avi.

It got better with version 9 & 10 though. I install it. But 7 was a poor excuse for a replacement of 6.4. A lot of people went to MPC at that point.
