Media Player Audio Problems

Ok... i have the default windows XP player and i have divx 4.0. Sometimes when I try to watch some avis on my computer, it'll download a "microsoft audio codec" And then it'll dl and be complete. Then, it'll play the movie with NO SOUND. Any idea why? If there's a audio codec out there, which one do I need?

Also, some of my real-audio movies are blackscreens. The sound's there, but the movie's not. Help?
