Anyone else have problems getting Media Player 9 to properly play old ASF files? Anyone have problems with some AVI's displaying a runtime about 6 times longer than it should be? Any ideas or is it just poor programing on MS's part? I still tend to use Media Player 6.4 rather than the newer versions, 7 was unbearable, 8 was better, but still awful, 9 is finally responsive enough to consider using, and has some nice features not offered in 6.4, but it still seems to be far to buggy.

Yes WMP takes FOREVER to start playing some videos for me and other times it crashes. I have 9 on XP and it's really annoying...I hope they release a non-beta soon.

Try playing some VBR encoded MP3's. I have one song that has a minute of silence and then goes to the "secret track" part, it locks my whole 2.4ghz system.

The problem with playtimes seems to be related to videos encoded with the radium mp3 codec for the audio track. WMP9 is still probably a full version from being a viable alternative to the aging 6.4 revision.
