MEDIA PC/ HDTV QUESTION

i want to hook up my media pc to my tv, the tv that you helped me perfect.

my media pc has on board video.

so what do i need to do? will it look ok?


now, my tv has a dvi out (female)

i tryed with a vga cable, and an dvi adapter on one end, but the dvi adapter did;t match up with the female end of the tv.


my pc has vga onbaord graphics, so i was going to run a vga cable and a dvi adapter at the end, but the all the dvi adapters i have, have these extra pins that the tv's female input do not have.

1. if your PC has VGA out, then all you need is a 15-pin VGA-VGA monitor cable to connect to the VGA input from the TV;
2. if your PC has DVI out, then you need a DVI-VGA adapter, and then connect the standard VGA-VGA monitor cable to the TV.
3. Alternatively, if your PC has DVI out, you can connect to your TV using DVI-HDMI cable.
4. if your PC has VGA out, your TV has HDMI but no VGA, then it's best if to get a cheap video card with DVI out.
 
figured it out, my tv is DVI-D so basically i need a cheap video card.

any cheap video cards out there that have dvi ?

how about the pc itself, does it look good on a hdtv monitor?
 
oh also it needs to be PCI not PCI-E, since my older machine is now my media pc

p4 2.8 , 1gb ram, 160hdd

Don't expect to play much of anything on a PCI video card anymore. The only thing they're useful for is stuff like this where you need another monitor.
