Howdy,
I have shelves and shelves of dvds in my living room, about 600 dvds. After about a week of watching movies my entertainment table and the floor around it is covered with stacks of open dvd cases and scattered discs. I just went out and bought a 1T WD hard drive to put as many movies on as I could so my living room would stay somewhat clean.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to media players that I could use so I wont have to drag a big clunky PC into my living room. I have found HDD/media players and I have also seen dvd players that had usb inputs with statements implying they would utilize a HDD with FAT 32. I have yet to format my hard drive but I know that FAT 32 won't allow me to rip my dvd's onto it because the files are too big. Another issue that I am unsure of is the file type I should use and if and/or how much they should be compressed. I have a 37" LCD and I want a good picture but it doesn't necesarilly have to be 1080p .So here are my questions....
1: PC or STAND ALONE MEDIA PLAYER or DVD PLAYER with USB or OTHER?
2: FAT 32 or NTFS or OTHER?
3: DIVX or WMF or OTHER?
I'm incredibly NEW to this stuff and I have figured out alot online but I'm kind of stuck at this point.
Thanks for any suggestions
