This is more like a rant/question combined for those who are experienced with Media Center 2005. Well, Thursday night I decided to record Game 7 of the NBA Finals in HD on my computer (I have the ATI HDTV Wonder). I actually missed the first few seconds of the very beginning (when they showed the opening graphics and stuff), and i pressed the record button on the media center remote, and it started recording. Well, everything is going great until the game is over. I only experienced about 2 or 3 video skips during the entire game (shocking to me, cuz it usually skips all the damn time cuz the HDTV signal is so damn sensitive, if i walk infront of the antenna the video will skip). But anyway, when the game is over, i press stop on the media center remote and exit out of media center. I go into the shared documents folder, and into the recorded tv folder, and check the file, and noticed that the file size was smaller and shorter than what it should've been (the file was 2hrs and 31mins long, and was a little over 17GBs in file size). Well, i open the file in windows media player, and go to the end of the file, and the game cuts out around the 9min mark in the 4th quarter!!!! This really pissed me off because the game looked absolutely amazing compared to regular tv (honestly, regular tv looked like absolute crap compared to this). Well anyway, media center decided that even though i pressed the record button, it ONLY recorded the game during its scheduled time slot, and did not continue to record until i press the stop button. Does anyone know if media center has the ability to just do a continuous record so that it'll just keep recording until i either run out of disk space or i tell it to stop recording? I don't want this to happen again, because I lost about 45mins worth of video by it doing this 🙁 I was anxious to get this video edited with dcut and compressed so i could burn it to a dvd, or maybe try out some WMVHD encoding.
