Media Center Remote help

I just bought a brand new pc, with Vista Ultimate and set up my entire computer. My dilema now is that my remote won't turn on media center, but it turns on my 360. Everything is hooked up and the sensor for the remote is. So i'm wondering why this is all screwy.
 
Are you saying that the remote doesn't start Media Center, or are you saying the remote doesn't boot your computer?

The remote cannot control the computer or the operating system, it can only control Media Center. If you exit Media Center, the green button should successfully launch it again.
