Medal of Honor Beta Thread

Anyone else playing this yet? I played for about 10 mins earlier, and it's like a cross between COD, Battlefield, and the Insurgency mod for Source. I got a pretty good first impression, and it will definitely shape up to be some fun!

Who else is on it?

I tried it, crashes ad nauseum, haven't touched it since.

Has run perfectly so far for me, wonder what the problem is?

It's certainly not the greatest game I've played, and certainly not the best FPS I've played, but it has a different feel and a slightly different pace that I actually like a fair amount. Probably still wouldn't pay 50-60 dollars for it, but at least it's fun as a free beta 🙂

It's pretty bad. At least you can see that the beta is a good foundation for something decent and that it just needs TONS of refinement so there is hope that the retail version will be alright.

I played it on my nephews old arse PC yesterday. Loved the sound, graphics look decent and game play reminds me a bit like old school MoH in an arcadish way. I didn't love the fact that you can kill someone who is a dot to you onscreen.

The one thing I'd really like to see changed is the spawning system. Spawning on the front lines shouldn't mean spawning in the middle of enemy bullets. But, it is just a beta. It's just nice to have a change of pace in an FPS once in awhile. Kinda wish bullet drop was in play (if it is, I haven't noticed) so that camping way behind the line isn't so easy to do.

Crashes all the time for me. Ugh. I guess it's a beta but you can barely configure the options, and I couldn't even get some keybindings to work. Thing is a pile of shit at this point IMO. The sound is quite good actually, on par with Bad Company 2 I'd say.

No way there's bullet drop at the range you can kill people.

I don't quite get the deal with the last few FPS games where you pick a class and don't even get your hands on that classes primary kit till you unlock a bunch of junk.

It seems behind the times, I played for about 3-4 hours ... then went back to BC2.

There's nothing all that unique about the game. The only thing that might be considered, is the spawning method, but MW2 kind of does spawning this way too.

I swear Dice/EA use the same base code for ALL of their games because every damn one of them since 1942 has had the same control problems early on. Mice have thumb buttons. I should be able to bind a movement to the thumb button. It's 2010. Fix it. Leave it fixed. Please.

I feel better now. But I still probably won't run the beta again, let alone buy the game. 😛

Medal of Honor Beta Ending
by Matt Pruitt
July 30, 2010

Cease fire! After six weeks, the Medal of Honor beta will be ending for the PlayStation 3 and PC on July 31st, 2010. We at DICE appreciate all of you who took the first step toward Tier 1 and participated in the beta – your contribution is invaluable and will only help improve the final game. Unfortunately, a PC beta patch will not be released. We have implemented a number of changes and fixes, however, that will appear in the final game – many of which were originated from your feedback! Here are a few of those:

• Improved hit detection
• Breath control for all classes
• Crash fixes
• Improved control input mapping
• In-game HUD polished
• All weapon stats are now updated in the spawn menu
• Spawn points tweaked

For our Xbox fans, the battle rages on! The beta will be extended for the Xbox 360 until August 9th, 2010. Thank you to all of you for continuing to provide us with excellent feedback!

On October 12, we hope to see you back on the battlefield! Please continue to visit our forums, Twitter page, and Facebook page for further Medal of Honor updates.

I played it a few days near the beginning, then I just went back to BFBC2. I might have gone back in if I had been given prior notice when it would end.

I just downloaded it the other day to find out that it ended already 🙄

Doesn't sound like I missed much though
