Two words....

Simply stunning.

The trailer itself looked a bit low-res and didn't give you the polished immersiveness that we have seen in the past in commercial Mechwarrior games but damn fine show for these guys for their conversion mod. I have seen much worse tasters from some companies.

Cannot wait just to get into the game and let my tongue wag at the glorious Crysis graphics and simply excellent Mechwarrior background.

These guys deserve a great deal of applause and respect as from the outside looking in, they have done a fine job thus far :)

Crysis mod. Not sure if you need Crysis or Crysis Wars though. Thinking original Crysis.

IIRC its a MP only though, right? Still my hat is off to these hard working gamers. My upgrade to a i5 750 on my portable SFF rig came just in time it seems. <g>

Edit: Yes, according to their FAQ you will need Crysis to play MWLL but MWLL is free. And it is multiplayer as well. I didn't see what system requirements were but considering its a Crysis mod you'll probably want some heavy gaming power to play it in all its high setting glory.

OK, looks fun, maybe.
But am not sure how badly I want this. Been waiting years for another mech game and think I may have lost my enthusiasm.

For those of you who know absolutely nothing about video games: Engines are very expensive. You can spend years and millions of dollars making a game engine. OR, you modify a current one and save assloads of resources.
And this mod is free. Owning Crysis also gets you the game Crysis, in addition to the engine which can be used in all sorts of ways.

MW:LL is a total conversion mod of Crysis with new units (eg, mechs), new maps and new weapon effects. It requires the original Crysis and is MP only. It looks to follow the original MP style of Crysis. It is also free (when released) so quit yer b****ing.

Ugggg wtf you need Crysis for this?

Very lame, Final Version should work without Crysis right?

I am a total Mech Game Fan, and this is pissing me off :(

yea, I just read that. Well I am a total Mech Warrior fan and Crysis is only 30 bucks, but I need some reviews from you all before I buy!

it's a pretty good game, i've played through it 3 times now i think and still have fun. if you want to run details on high, you better have a beefy system.

also, you may want to buy the crysis maximum edition for a mere $10 more to get the standalone expansion "warhead" plus crysis wars (not sure how many people play crysis wars, the MP, though).

Well, when you think about it if you buy Crysis, you get a good game and its not as expensive as paying $50 for a brand new game. Then if you are a MW fan you get that free DL so in effect you are getting two good (we'll assume MWLL is good) games out of it. Come to think about it.. I wonder if this will prompt some cheap Crysis sales? Might happen. Of course if you already have Crysis then its all a moot point.

ok, i have some questions i hope you guys could answer:

1. i played a bit of the beginning of crysis (the beach). with graphics on "high" i'm getting 30ish fps. can i expect framerates to be similar throughout the game, or will other levels have very different fps?

2. using either the mod's launcher or manually loading the mod, the mod fails to run. i get regular crysis instead.
click on "multiplayer", stupid

3. "Crysis installed and patched to 1.21"

in the menu screen, i see a version number of 1.1.1.5156. since this is a steam game, updates are automatic and this should work, right?
the steam version does not display the correct version number, but it is up-to-date (1.21)

4. "This directory should be extracted to your Crysis install Directory which usually looks like “C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis”

i'm using vista 64 and i bought crysis on steam. the correct directory to perfrom surgery on is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crysis". confirm?
this is the correct directory for vista 64 + steam installs

5. "For MWLL to function properly we have adjusted an created an actionmap for players to begin with.
You MUST replace your Crysis Action maps.
To do this, copy the file “example_actionmaps_for_joystick.xml”
Paste this file your Crysis profile contained in

mydocuments\mygames\Crysis\default\
mydocuments\mygames\Crysis\YOURUSERNAME\

The file must be renamed to actionmaps.xml"

i believe my directory is "Documents\My Games\Crysis\Profiles\default". i moved the original actionmaps.xml to the desktop (just in case) and renamed the new file. is this correct?
this is correct for vista installs

^ might be better off searching MW:LL forums, or posting there on this.

Wish I could help you, I want to hear what people think about MW:LL

I found this

1. Buy Crysis Maximum Edition or just Crysis
2. Install Crysis
3. Install Crysis patch v1.2 -> http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=1073
4. Install Crysis Hotfix v1.21 -> http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=1194
5. At some point on December 26, 2009 go to http://www.mechlivinglegends.net and choose a mirror download site and download the MWLL Mod file (about 1.5 GB in size)
6. Follow the directions from MWLL for installation of the MWLL Mod files.
7. Find a MWLL compatible server online and PLAY !!!

I was all excited before I realized you needed Crysis too.

Fuck that, I'm not playing a stupid mod. If they release a stand-alone (read: a REAL) game, then they'll get my money. Until then, fuck them.
