Ok so I have played basically every mechwarrior game and expansion since Mechwarrior 2.
Mechwarrior 4 mercenaries was one of my favorite games ever, despite the less than stellar graphics.

As you may know, Mechwarrior 5 has been cancelled for quite some time... but oh how I wish they'd just freaking make another game...

Cliffs: invoke any mafia connections you might have to pressure Bill Gates into giving the go ahead on Mechwarrior 5.

Mechwarrior 2 was the best. Although Mercenaries was pretty damn cool, that one had the arena battles right? With the graphics available today, they could make a beautiful mechwarrior game... it's bound to happen eventually.

Yes but what is the typical development cycle? ~2 years for any decent game? I wish I didn't have to wait.

Guys, what game from Battlemech ganre would you recommend a newbie to get?
The only game I played was Mechwarrior 1 back in '96.

Thank you.

Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries is the most recent Mechwarrior game... Mechwarrior 4: Vengeance was good but Mercenaries is better.

If you're getting Mechwarrior4, then buy the Mechwarrior4 Compilation ($20), which is two full games (MW4 Vengeance and MW4 Mercenaries) plus the full-length Black Knight add-on for MW4 Vengeance, and I believe you get the 'Mech Paks too. Hardware-wise, a 1GHz CPU with a Radeon 7500 is enough to go with. 384MB to 512MB of RAM will help eliminate stuttering on some of the biggest battles that have lots of combatants, but you can play with 256MB if that's what you have.

MW3 did have an awesome environment simulation. I thought the 'mechs looked a little retarded, but coming from MW2 it was pretty sweet overall.

Anyone play the ORIGINAL Mechwarrior? I remember playing on a old 486. It was possibly the best Mechwarrior game ever. I wish I could find a copy or some way to play it. Great game. :)

i remember running up to an Atlas with my Locust, it's so small you can take out the legs and the atlas can't hit you back.

Is the original even playable on a XP system? If run from DOS? Point me in the direction of one of these 'right places'. :p
