Mechwarrior 2009 - What happened?

There was an awesome video that went round the net for a relaunch of the Mechwarrior games, Mechwarrior 2009. Then there was nothing but silence. What happened to this game? Will it be released, and if so, when?

Since the new MW game was announced only recently I'm sure it's still early in development. I'd look toward hearing more at the end of the year and possible early next year. I'd be surprised if it comes out earlier than Fall 2012, assuming it stays in development.

You mean Mechwarrior 5?

AFAIK it got into some legal trouble and I do not know the outcome. I would probably class it as dead in the water.

If you do mean Mechwarrior: Living Legends (A total conversion mod for Crysis), that has been out for over 12 months now.

No, I did not mean Living Legends. I have that one. I was refereeing to Mechwarrior 5 (or whatever it was as an official Mechwarrior title). I really hope it is not dead in the water, since it has been a very long time since any games in that genre was available for pc. I like mech games, and Front Mission Evolved was ok. Just not as good as Mechwarrior series. Mechwarrior 4 is a great game, but it is indeed very old. It would be nice to have something more modern with updated graphics and physics. 🙂

I've been wondering what happened to this game too. I didn't even know there was video footage of it. I had only seen a couple SSs. That sucks that it's caught in legal limbo. I don't see any reason for them to want to use copyrighted mechs. Just make some of their own models. The game looks phenomenal. No need for it to jump on the coat tails of some anime's name.
