Mechanics (Real and Arm-chair) take a guess the latest car problem.

The car started acting like it was going to stall the other night. It was colder than hell that night so I didn't worry about it.

The next day it actually started stalling whenever I put it into gear. In fact, when I put it gear, the car will idle slower and slower until it completely stalls. Giving it some gas doesn't affect the stalling.

The car cranks fine and it runs as it always has when in park or neutral.

It leaks and burns some oil, but I made sure that it was full.

I'm guessing that a vacuum hose has come off, but I don't really know.

Anyone care to guess?

Hey my car is doing EXACTLY the same thing. '83 Tercel (stop laughing!). Runs fine when it's warmed up though. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but I will tomorrow.

Maybe the throttle is sticking? Since it only happens in gear, maybe there's something wrong with the torque converter.
