So I am currently in the market for a mechanical keyboard and have narrowed down my selection to either Cherry MX Black or Brown switches. I like the idea of the tactile feedback on the browns, however I will primarily be using this keyboard for gaming (FPS and MMO), while my FPS usage is pretty straight forward I am a bit of a button masher when it comes to MMO's (roughly 5-10 key presses per second during peak times). Because of this I am not certain whether browns would be more of a hindrance than a help.

I haven't used a mechanical keyboard for any gaming in the past so I am looking for recommendations from people who have used either of these switch types before.

I am fairly heavy handed so I am not too keen on Red switches and Blues seem like they might be a bit on the irritating side for a button masher like me.

I appreciate all recommendations and feedback.

I've got me a Filco Tenkeyless Ninja UK with Browns. It does precisely what it's supposed to do, and with a bit of practice you don't bottom out anymore.

I have a Razer Black Widow Ultimate Stealthe, it has Browns. I absolutely love it. A buddy of mine has a Steelseries with Blacks. He came over recently to check out the Widow, and he said he liked the browns way better than his blacks. They're a little lighter to type on. They're really not that loud either. And the tactile feedback is just enough that you know it's there, but not overly exaggerated like with Blues. I didn't like the feel of blues personally.

I game mostly MMO's and browns are great, very fast response. My typing speed has gone up also compared to the old rubber dome keyboard I used to have.

I have a Filco Majestic with browns and I love it. I just bought a Corsair K90 that has Cherry reds so I'll let you know what my impressions are on the reds when it arrives.

Button mashing on the blues is great :D Although it may bother others.

Otherwise, I love the blues for typing. It just feels very very clear when you've passed the actuation point.

I game on the blues regularly and haven't run into any issues. I actually like the feel though, so I know exactly when something happens (throwing a grenade, crouch, etc)
