Measuring Fan Size?

How does one determine the size (80mm, 92mm, 120mm) of a fan in their case? Is the measurement the diameter of the fan blades or the diagnal of the mounting holes or something else?

hmm...Well, the whole width of the fan is right at 92mm, but the distance (on center) from mounting holes is about 83mm. I assume this is a 92mm fan then, correct?

yup, always measure the width or length (does not matter cos it is square)
