Is there a way to check the transfer speed of my network? My nephew told me to log on here and ask. He said something about a software that loads on 2 computers and you run it and it transfers a file and measures the time and speed, etc.

On the Cisco sight, the place that makes Network Magic they have a product called Speed Meter Pro 1.3. What this does is:

Speed Meter Pro 1.3
Is someone downloading a large file or streaming video? Is your cordless phone interfering with your wireless connection? Or, is an application or neighbor stealing bandwidth?

With Speed Meter Pro, take the guesswork out of trying to figure out what is causing slowdowns. This powerful software utility helps you diagnose and manage your wireless, network and Internet connection so you can optimize your connected experience

•Scans across your entire network including computers, wired and wireless networks and Internet connection
•Identifies the source of network slowdowns, saving you troubleshooting time
•Enables you to address problems quickly and optimize your network for maximum speed and productivity
•Proactively monitors your network to detect issues that need immediate attention

The best part of this software is that they will give you a 7 day FREE trial. So go ahead and use it to see how to speed up your network.
