Amazon is running a promotion where you get $10 credit for pre-ordering a game. The credit goes into you account 2 days after the item is shipped. Read the T&C at amazon for any additional relevant information. The following are PC, XBOX, PS3, and Wii games. In general the PC version come out to be about $37 after credit and the console versions end up around $47 after the credit (depending on the game).

I'm saving my $10 credit for starcraft 2. 2010 is going to be a killer gaming year

Change your title. Its not $37.

It should read "Mass Effect 2 + $10 Amazon credit = $46.99" or something to that effect.

Agreed. Of course, I already put my money down for the LE the day I could, so... oh well.

I was considering the limited edition for a while, but at $60 versus $47-10 = $37, i think the standard edition is a better deal.

The only thing the seems appealing in the LE version is "Limited edition Cerberus Network card granting access to bonus content." But that is way to vague for me to put money on it. If the LE contained some sorta item like a action figure, i probably would've gone with that.

for the small difference, you get behind the scene info (really interesting if you are into games and computers, which i think we all at anandtech are), as well as a comic, and that bonus content stuff....

at the very least you could end up ebaying the comic etc, to make it back

Is there anyway to guarantee shipping on release day? Like actually receive it on release day? I have prime + want FF13 for the PS3. If I had to wait two days, I'd rather just go out and buy it.

With prime, release day shipping is free. Amazon is one of the best about getting it to you at the very least the day of release and sometimes they day before!

I've never received anything after the release day when selecting release day shipping from Amazon.

do you happen to know if there was a special edition for japan?

i think it was just the game +ps3 bundle, it's possible we get that too, but i bit on the regular games since i have ps3 already.

i've heard about a CE music collection versus the regular music collection but not the game itself

I just did this for FF13. Amazon's shipping is super fast especially if you have prime. I usually get games early.

oh man thats great to hear... i finally signed up for prime (3-months free trial trick)

would love to get the game early... that makes sense amazon stays on the safe side and sends it out a bit earlier than they need to because if they get it to you one day early you're happy...if you get it one day late you're pissed off..

Star Trek Online "presells" are at Target for $1. Actually all they are is a box with a Beta Invite Key and a coupon for $5 off the purchase price at Target.

Good cheap way to try the game out though and see if you like it, beta is running all this month.

that's good info mplogic,

as an alternative, amazon sends you the beta code, 2 days after you pre-order... so there is still time.

I only mention this for those who want the game, but want the benefit of trying it out first and deciding against it... Please don't screw the system by pre-ordering with absolutely no intention of buying, as this type of behavior will lead to retailer changes in regard to pre-order promotions.

oh man..... just got in on a bioshock 2 deal and now Mass Effect 2 is too good to pass up.

One question though.....

Today is saturday and I signed up to free release date delivery.... is there any chance I don't get the game by Tuesday? Cuz if so, i'm headed to best buy.
what's the last day for release date delivery..... i mean i doubt they offer it monday right? since they would have to overnight a $47 dollar game, and they already lose $10 of it for the credit they give...
that means $47-$10-overnight = lose money?

since amazon is so big, i doubt they lose any money even when they overnight.... they probably have deals with UPS to send some many packages per year, and if they don't use it they just lose it.

I'm guessing Monday morning is the last day to order with pre-order bonus and release date shipping (get it tuesday)...

BTW OP, the Dark Void deal is dead, as it's been released!
