i have all the tools from the consolidated security thread over in software(thanks schadenfroh :beer: ) and i'm declaring war on my htpc

i forgot to do the metafile exploit patch and now it's fubared

hopefully i can salvage it without having to reformat

i got all the other systems...dunno why i forgot that one

booting up into safe mode now...hopefully it's not as bad as it appears :crossesfingers;

hmm, I have no patch against the WMF yet, is it really a threat?

iwould suggest you do it...i'm reasonably sure that's how this machine got infected...it's the only one that's got it and also the only one i haven't patched...

the mod on duty thought i was posting for technical help, after he/she reaslized i was just venting i was unlocked
