i mean, I will need a seperate program to rip the CD into .wav format, and then use RazorLame to encode it into .mp3????

It's just a GUI frontend for lame, which has a CLI. Razorlame is probably for people who work directly with lame, rather than people who just want to rip CDs.

EAC will rip to .wav and if you have an MP3 compressor such as LAME installed, it will compress the .wav files using the compressor. So you'd only need 1 program to rip and encode (assuming that's what you want to do).

Who would pirate an album ripped as wav? I thought most pirated music would be in mp3 and rarely in flac/ma.

Some people have a lot of use for an easy WAV -> MP3 frontend. Even with casual use I'm often converting stuff to MP3.

Why would anyone use MP3 if the source is already CD-Quality? I only use MP3 for radio rips or to convert from musepack, etc. Otherwise I use FLAC.

MP3 is useless for ripping cds.
