Bad News:

-Corporate downsizing, ~40 newest employees got the boot, despite my mad programmin skillz, this included the Train 🙁
-Work herd is dessimated, 2 P3 700's gone 🙁
-Fundage for continuing upgrades is in danger 🙁

Good news:

-Got 2 weeks severance pay plus $350 in unused vacation 🙂
-might finish my website now that i have time and hopefully it will produce income 🙂
-already got 20 email addresses of local businesses to send my resume to 🙂
-will be able to spend more time on homework for my classes 🙂
-oc'ed my Win2k server up another notch last night to 558 Mhz, plus an os upgrade, see other thread. 🙂
-its now ok to hit on that hot chick in the cubicle next to me, she gave mer her number as i left 🙂 🙂 🙂

its all for the better, i have a good feeling about it, that job sucked a fat one anyways, im glad i got booted than having to wait it out.

I'm sorry to hear about losing your job, but hey, you might find something better. about your website if it will help you generate funds, especially for TA then i'm sure we could all spread the word about it.

Train: Sorry to hear about you getting laid off. Sounds like you weren't very happy there anyway so even though it sucks now it's probably better in the long run. Like others have said, be ready when that door opens again. 🙂

Good luck!

Rob

LOL@Networkman 🙂

Train, sorry to hear about you getting laid off 🙁, that always sucks, but if the job wasn't a good one, it's time to move on to better opportunities anyways.

We spend so much of our adult life working that we should try to enjoy what it is we are doing (at least most of the time). 🙂

damn, sucks.

oh wait...

<< its now ok to hit on that hot chick in the cubicle next to me, she gave mer her number as i left 😀😀😀 >>

Then IT'S ALL GOOD BROTHA...
a chance for a better career, & a new door for a 'relationship' 😉

When I first read the post title, I missed the 'off' part.

Sorry to hear of your pain (I mean the lost blocks)...
a couple guys (programmers) that I know got laid off too,
consulting contracts didn't go through...
Tech sector is tightening the belt...
Could have a positive purging effect...
definitely a sign of a slowing job market..

Train, remember, 1 sniper bullet.😉 Seriously though, it sucks to hear they'd do that to ya Train.🙁 However, like you said, you didn't like the job; so it's probably for the best. Just remember that there's more jobs out there, and they're probably better than that one.🙂

Well, the grass can be greener on the otherside...
Say you get hired by a IBM super computer development
team and score bigtime on all the old prototypes
laying around.

Train, I have no doubt you'll land on your feet in a new job. You've definitely got the right skill set for finding a new job easily. I found one within 3 weeks when I had to go job hunting ...

Oh, and the new job netted me a 100% pay increase! So sometimes these things can definitely work in your favor!

<Screw the opportunity knocking, man. Make sure you give that gal a call>
