ME freezes when acessing files on LAN

I have 3 computers on a LAN (two are running Win Me and one XP). When I try to access files from WinME(computer A) to download to another(other ME or XP) it freezes. I cant network computer A to any other computer without it freezing. The other ME and XP can't access computer A without computer A freezing. But the other ME and XP have no problems communicating with each other.
*I have removed and reinstalled the network components but that didnt fix the problem.
*I used Net diag and there was no problem
*I using tcp/ip and ipx protocol
*I'm using d-link DFE 530-tx network card
It did work at one time. The only upgrade I made was a GeForce2 MX video card
The only other problem I having is that the computer wont shut down anymore. I have to turn it off

Can you surf the internet from computer A without freezing? I'd be willing to bet there's a weird resource conflict with that NIC. Try changin PCI slots, and use the latest drivers, (off the web).
