I reinstalled ME, ran Norton Disk doctor and all is fine there, defragged...

Still, SCANDISK every time. On through scan setting. I cant get the setttings to stick in scandisk when I try to configure it manually, that is it won't go for the quick scan (at least) when rebooting.

The trouble is recent, and consistent.

I tried the microsoft IDE 2 second delay on shutdown patch that appears to address this, with no joy.

ME on Athlon 1000/ Asus A7V, Global FOP-32, 384 mg Muskin Rev2, 30g WD HDD, SBlive, 3D power Pro 64.

Thanks.

Change the settings on Scandisk, check the save settings box, and do a manually scan of all partitions. Sometimes, Windows remembers that you still need to do a scan because of a improper shutdown. Remember to use Scandisk, not Norton, for this.

try dispabling all of the ACPI and power management stuff in your BIOS. See if it shuts down to the "Now Safe To Shut Down Your Computer" screen. It may be crashing just before that, so it is not registering that it was shut down properly. Just a suggestion...

If all else fails, do a FULL Clean Install of Windows ME. That is: Reformat the HD and reinstall everything from scratch. That should fix your problem. Of course only do this is ALL ELSE FAILES!!! :)
