Before the volt mod, before the change in CPU/RAM OC.

CPU - 2365MHz
RAM - 215MHz @ 2.5-4-4-11
VPU - 370MHz
VRAM - 670MHz

timedemo - 40fps

Then a reformat and the following changes:

CPU - 2362.5MHz
RAM - 189MHz @ 2-2-3-7
VPU - 405MHz
VRAM - 729MHz

timedemo - 30fps

WTF is going on here.

OC is controlled by ATITool. When ATITool notices a 3d application, it will throttle up speed.

Another weird instance is that 3dmark2001se shows 16500 points, but that's only 500 points from my previous OC. unlike the 800 points in 3dmark03.

Any ideas why this is happening.

Maybe your vid card is like an old chevy distributor. If you advance the timing too far, you lose power. LOL.

seems the system RAM speed (timings aside) is more important than VPU or VRAM speed.

VIAN, have you backed down your clocks and tried again? And were your fps raised?

It would make sense that its your video card. To be sure, isolate the variable. Change your clocks back to normal and retest. Who knows, maybe you dont have the same drivers, have aa or some other setting on, have a windows issue, etc. I realize that you are not the typical "what video card do i buy" idiot-like person that often lingers around here, but we all make mistakes. So just make sure to isolate your problem before going any further. Its quite a pain to find out that what u thought was the problem, really isnt. :)

I would say it has to do alot more with the Ram bandwidth... Timmings are worthless so uhh why have low timmings and no bandwidth...

It's almost the same.

Bandwidth and timings. A 215MHz RAM Module that wastes 11 cycles for everytime it wants to access data may not be as goo as a 189MHz RAM Module that wastes 7 cycles for everytime it wants to access data.

I also heard that AXPs work better with tight timings.

I forgot to disable vysnc in the doom3 menu.

Then I was able to get 40fps. Which means that the performance hasn't increased at all despite the increased graphics power and new drivers. Weird. Even with what John said about OCing, I still think it's weird.

I'm still gonna experiment with 3dmark2001se.
