ME 2 puzzle glitch???

ME 2 PC with patch1.02

The circuit puzzle did not work at the beginning of the game! Match the symbols, supposed to be easy, but the circuits never connected, so I could never open safes, et al. Finally, after spending 45 min. trying to open the door needed to continue with the game, the circuits finally connected, and the door opened. Was I doing something wrong? Never found any posts with this weird problem.

Had no problem with matching the codes puzzle...at least it worked.
