not much anymore. MS has also updated and changed the name of the 2008 certification line.

The MCSA still holds some credibility, but only if you have the recommended experience level - 6+ months administering servers in a 250+ user, multi-site, multi-server environment. Without the experience, it's not worth much at all.

It's funny because I worked for a guy (actually, my boss' boss) who hated certs, didn't have any himself and wasn't interested in anyone who had them. I worked for another guy though that wouldn't even talk to you unless you were MCSE, MCSA, CCNA, CCDA and Security+. It's a crap shoot. I say, better safe than sorry so get them anyway. It's always good to have someone put on paper that you know what you are doing (yes, I have worked with people with a ton of certs who were morons but that's not the norm from my experience).

I'm an MCSA on 2000 and 2003. It opened some doors for me but didn't do much as far as preparing me to do my job.
