MCSE test, which OS type has most demand and useful?

i was looking at this MCSE book and generally it was kind of simple (altho it was very picky about little details), so with a cram of a month or so would give me enough info to get a cirtification. (or is it really hard? anyone with experience?)

I'm quite used to Win95 and 98 SE and not much with NT. So which would have most demand in the near future that i can benefit most from? 98SE, NT4.0 , ME, 2k pro ?? any ideas?? thanx.

Also with new revision on A+ certification including linux and excluding Dos, should i wait until that test or should i just take the test now? thanx again

NT / 2000 is all I would ever bother with... no one take much value in being certified 98. Although *I* personally could tell a difference, I have yet to run into an employer that wanted a win98 certified tech. Most people think they know 98 when they can move icons around.... sorry.

NT is very useful and will be around a long time, but the tests are being retired at the end of the year... so I would go the 2000 track personally if you're just starting. May want to READ and learn the NT stuff to have the base for moving on to 2000.

I heard you can't even get certified for NT anymore I guess its integrated with 2k.

I agree with Dameon, read more on NT or 2000, and concentrate on Networking.

I passed the NT4 exams about 6 months ao, and those things were funny to me, because people made them out to be hard. What a joke, these things weren't the least bit difficult. 2 weeks of cramming would easily pass in my book. The only one that may give trouble would be the NT Server Enterprise, since it is adaptive and tends to grind you down once it finds your weak point. I highly reccommend the Sybex books

This day and age, it seems to pay more if you are Cisco or Oracle certified, instead of Microsoft, which I think is right because those tests aren't a laughing matter

I would imagine that having CCNA beside your name would be better the MCSE. But what do I know. The only thing next to my name is "Grunt".

be careful, as you know, they are retiring the NT 4 exams at the end of this year. just conecntrate on 2k
