MCSE Questions I forgot...Help?!

A few days ago I took a test with some MCSE questions on it and I got a few wrong that I wanted to run buy some people.

QUESTION 1

To establish a VPN connection what do you need:

a) Host Name

b) IP

c) Both a and b

d) neither

This questioned sucked cause I had it twice and if I remembered the question correctly I answered a once and b the next time and got it wrong both times!!! If anyone has seen this before feel free to correct me but this is the layout of the question I had. Whats correct?

QUESTION 2:

When using VPN on an XP machine, what protocol is used? (sorry it was something like this)

( I drew a blank, and the question was fill in the blank )

QUESTION 3:

To resolve google.com on your desktop, what four things do you need?( from your DHCP? )

I believe the question asked from your DHCP, I can exactly remember. Does it make sense that DHCP would send four things?


Those are all I can thing of at the moment although I may have more if I get responses. Thanks for any help,

When using Windows XP what protocol does XP use?

For what?

To resolve google.com on your desktop, what four things do you need?( from your DHCP? )

IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS server address?

These aren't terribly "good" MCSE questions. The Microsoft tests I've taken (which is quite a few) wouldn't be so imprecise in the questions. The questions you list are full of holes.

For 1, you need either the host name or the IP. if you have the hostname, you can use DNS/NetBIOS/WINS(deprecated so they wouldn't give it as an option). So the options aren't really proper answers.

For 2, it can be L2TP or PPTP. Or if they were referring to the authentication protocol, it could be MS-CHAP, MS-CHAP v2, PAP, SPAP, or CHAP....
