MCSE or CNE

Which to pursue?

Any one have any luck with particular books?

I've been doing desktop/network support on a tier 1/2 level for a few years now.

Had a brief internship with a novell shop at the start of it. I'm generally employable but would like to add some oomph to my resume.

Figured why not

Anyone want to chime in?

there's a little voice in the back of my head that says "wrong forum"...but I can't decide if it's right or not.

I say MCSE simply because Novell is making quite a few fundamental changes to its NOS (moving to linux in a big way), so you'll likely get caught in a compromising position in terms of qualification. If you wait a bit, I may change that opinion.

Yea I'm a bit worried about that too. I'm thinking about going for one of the lighter MCSE exams, to get MCP, and maybe ride that out for a bit until novell comes out with their next thing.

definitely MCSE. i see a bunch of job postings that require an MCSE to be considered for a particular position. i've yet to see someone even mention CNE at all.

since you already have substantial experience on the tech support side, one of the MCDST tests should be more than easy for you to pick up the MCP title. Alternatively, go for the Windows XP Pro exam, as it's always useful to have the flagship workstation OS under your belt, no matter what you do.
