so what do you guys reccommend i should do? i've got access to a number of classes i can take and all these certifications, which i want to take.

what would you guys reccommend?

from what i've heard and my own experience, certs dont mean much. I got a CCNA a couple years ago, it didnt make my job search any easier.

CCNA - is still in need - just look at Monster.com average pay of them.

MCSE - are a dime a dozen since there are 250,000 of them, 100k are out of a job now.

CNE - useless nowadays

A1 - worse than CNE - usually holding "Will work for food" signs at intersections

UNIX - still in demand

Linux - growing (usually RedHat Adv Server)

difficulty: 😀

CCNA>MCSE

repesct

CCNA~MCSE in that they aren't worth that much anymore

CCNA concerns cisco routing and switching equipment and the basics and intermediate principles of switching and routing(protocols, commands, computations etc) This one deals more with setting up a network using hardware and computations and actively allotting, managing ,and routing information and service data

CCNA= you make sure the gets there...you care what type of data it is more so than what the data is about

MCSE concerns Microsoft Sever Operating systems and the basics and intermediate principles of managing resources and routing information. (protocols, commands, etc) This one deals more with setting up a network usign a domain and actively allotting and managing information and services

MSCE=you manage the data ie...you position the data logistically on the network...you care what's in the data and how to make it effectively accessible

Don't think so dude. CCNA is one test, an MCSE is 7 tests. And the CCNA ain't that tough. I'd say a CCNA is a lot better than a MCP though, but definitely not as good as an MCSE. But it really depends on what job you are going for. Now if we are talking CCIE, then that would equate to "THE SH!T." 😉

Oh, c'mon, give me a break..I am a student dammnit, and most of what I say is wrong and should therefore be implied 😀

and yes the CCIE-certified folks are "the sh!t"

<---aspiring foo looking to finish his Cisco classes soon, get his CCNA and go from there
