I'll be starting on my MCSE studying next week and had a question.

Do I really need extra workstations to practice on? My uncle who has an MCSE says I should gather a few older system to "break" and tinker with.

I'm building a beast PC for VM'ing and I thought that was all I needed.

you don't need any outrageous hardward for MCSE...more than one machine is helpful when studying networking as well as a cheap switch/router/L3 switch.

I pretty well understand the hardware side of the MCSE cert, I'm focusing on the software. That's why I'm building a really nice PC to use virtual machines and network them.
