Anyone know a good resource site with free courses/practice tests for certs such as MCSE? I want to consider taking mine, but theres like 10 tests with courses that are 20+ hours. I just don't have that kind of time and money. I rather just have an online resource or even a book that I can read through at my own leisure, and be able to take practice exams then take the real one when I feel ready.

mcmcse.com and techexams.net are great places to start, and both provide a gateway of links.

cramsession.com has very nice, free, short and concise pdf study guides for each exam.

I suggest reading the cramsession study guide before anything else. I have over 15 certifications and in my experience, these study guides are the best place to start and get an overall awareness of what is needed to be known for the exam. They average 30-50 pages of fairly large font text.

The 2000 series exams are difficult. But not as difficult as the 2003 series. MS really clamped down on the exams for 2003, and you have much less margin for error and guessing on the 2003 exams. I tore through most fo the 2000 series exams and when I tried jumping into the 2003 exams shortly after, it was like hitting a brick wall.

Finally, if the practice tests and notes on the sites I mentioned, along with the cramsessions guides, if they don't cut it for you, look for CBT nugget training videos. It would be illegal to download them via torrent sites, but you can find many of their products on eBay for relatively cheap. I managed to get the entire CBT catalog for under $100. Turned out that it was a hack, but by time I received the product the ebay account was gone.
