im taking some classes on becoming mcse win2k certified. the official microsoft cirriculum leaves alot to be desired.. so i need something to supplement the microsoft stuff. ive narrowed it down to the Sybex and ExamPrep. but cant decide. which is better?

I'm personally fond of Sybex myself. I just like their layout. Very well broke down and easy to reference.

I like em both, but I retain more from the Sybex books for some reason.

Although, I havent taken my cert exams yet, so I wouldnt go by my judgement alone :)

Sybex Study Guides. Read through them and then get the Microsoft Exam preps. I don't know if these are the same as what you're looking at, but the ones I have are all questions and answers the are alot of the same questions as the tests. This is the method I've followed in the past and had great success.

thanks. looks like sybex wins hands down... i was sort of leaning toward the examprep series, but if everyone recommends these books, who am i to argue.

now all i need to do i buy them.. any place cheaper than bookpool? they have the core 4 pack for $94 shipped (yah me, no sales tax since i dont live in massachusetts :) ) amazon has these for $111 shipped and barnes&noble for $127 plus shipping.

I used Sybex for my nt4 MCSE and thought they were great. However I wasn't a fan of their CCNA/CCNP books, so maybe it varies book by book.

i bought the sybex set. it's fairly easy to read and understand. paid $95 + tax at Costco. It's the second edition with (4) core study guides, (1) 4 in 1 Core Requirements Exam Notes (Bonus Book) and Sybex e-trainer CD.

yeah, those sybex guides are great.. i just passed my first mcp exam (70-210) this morning.. wheew! this was my first ever so no i have an idea how it goes...

the sybex are definately a good read.. did notice though that the actual questions were formatted in a similar way to the Microsoft Readiness Review that MS publishes.. i almost forgot that i had that book, but skimmed it yesterday night. thank god. :)

i guess i can sort of justify this $9000 mcse courses (9 month program) im taking now.. at least not a total waste.. before taking the courses, i tried reading a win2kpro study guide.. and alot of the material stumped me.. this time around, everything just made sense.
