Read this in a review of an F1 from an owner:

"Nothing has really gone wrong with the car, runs very smooth, but if anything does go wrong you phone McLaren up, link in a modem to the car and they diagnose the problem where ever you are and come over and sort out the problem."

How cool is that??? God bless McLaren, the F1 has gotta be the closest thing to Heaven on Earth...

If they ever tried to do that with a Ford, it would take them a week to download all the problems it has over a 56k modem.

For the money that you pay for that thing, they should have a helicopter full of mechanics touch down in my backyard within a 4 hour response time!

Actually - I heard they have some sort of emergency roadside assistance if you ever get stranded, and they'll pick you up/fix the car or whatever. I know that other companies offer this - but I heard it was real fancy (they actually use a helicopter to get to you on occasions). I dunno if it's true, but it'd be cool.

I also heard that when you order one; they deliver it on a truck with all these cool pictures and the "McLaren" logo on the truck and it rolls out on like a red carpet or something :)

Actually, I believe they fly out a team of mechanics...seriously, they do.

Mclarens do rule but if anything ever goes wrong with it for the money you spent on it if you'd of bought a 911 in the first place you could replace it several times over :)

Course, a 911 is no F1.

Of course, even a 911 Turbo or Carrera GT is overkill for most people. Not to mention the fact that the Porches probably have more luxeries than the bare-boned F1.

Besides, how many F1 owners drive their car to its full potential?

Correction, a 911 Turbo is overkill for most people. A Carrera GT is overkill for just about everybody!! :)

Considering that most F1's are converted for LeMans-style racing,
I'd say most of them. However, technically most owners hire people
to drive their cars.
