Some team is going to score big. Take him with a 3rd or 4th round pick, put him on IR, and have him rehab with the best.

You never know, some team with two #1s like the Raiders or Patriots might even take him in the first.

Huge risk as a first round draft pick I'd think.. He may never play the same again, which is quite sad. :(

Didn't he have a 2 million insurance policy? Pretty big risk, but he could be a great bargain if he goes in the latter rounds.

yeah, hes way too big a risk for a first rounder. we'll see if the cowboys take him as their first pick or not, that will tell you whether jerry or bill is in charge.

Highly doubt it...they won't take a risk at the RB position, they still have Emmitt holding it down, he can still run whether you'll admit it or not. They are in desparate need of a QB/CB/O-line.

He had a 2.5 million dollars insurance policy. If he goes in the first round I would be VERY surprised! No team is going to take that kind of risk on him.

The Panthers need him. They seem to like taking in running backs that are injury prone anyway. ;)

The Panthers need a lot more than just him. Maybe the can draft another drug abuser. ;)

Theres talk of the Cowboys taking him, but not in the first round. No ones going to give him first round money. If hes still there for the 6th pick in the second or 5th pick in the third, Dallas might take him. No one is going to pick him up in the first round. He still gets the $2.5million, UNLESS he plays in 4 games next year.

I find it sad that these guys who supposed was just as interested in an education as they are football will go and leave college after the softmore year to make millions!!!!!

That is a disgrace. They do not pay their way to college, and end up with a job that pays millions and has nothing to do with education. Then you got those that do not get to goto college for free, and can not afford it either (JUST LIKE MOST FOOTBALL PLAYERS), and end up flipping burgers at the local burger joint..... Everyone is equal my butt

No, theres been talk that they wouldnt mind getting him, to be Emmitts replacement for the 2004-2005 season. However they'll get a DB, after trading down, if McGahee is still there in 2nd Id say they'd take him. They arent going to be drafting a QB, they will be getting a veteran.

I really dont think he will be taken before the Cowboys second round pick. Theres no way a team will take him in the first round even if they have two.

College Football players pay their way through college. Its called the schools, make MILLIONS of dollars off of them. Thats why they give them free rides because the football programs make schools ALOT of money. The avg joe cant do that.

That is a DAMN fine reason to not touch this guy. Everyone knows that your body never truly recovers from an injury like this. Yes you may recover so that you can play just as well but once this type of injury happens, the injury is that more likely to occur again.

McGahee might be an awesome running back but to tear your ACL twice in five years is not a good sign. The only reason I would draft him is so that I could develop him into a good running back for a year them trade him for lots of draft picks or players.

Low 2nd maybe--and no team that plays on turf risk it. I can see Al Davis with 3 2nd round picks this
year from the Gruden deal taking a shot at McGahee. (drafted by the World Champion Raiders ;) )
Your talking about a guy with top 5 pick talent. Even coming back at 90% is still a 1st rounder.
Sad that it happened yes, but he needs to go. UM is loaded at RB, if he sits out a year in COLLEGE, his stock would plummet. Better to sit in the pros and make a living.

Oh God, Panthers, PLEASE don't pick him up, PRETTY PLEASE!!! With our luck, we'll end up with him. I'm still hoping we might be able to trade our 9th overall pick for Torry Holt or something like that...

Carolina won't take him. Not with Foster, Brown, etc.

And there's no way in hell StLouis would deal Holt for the 9th overall pick. :)

I asked my employer(Disability Insurance sales in the state of FL) and he said that the policy is probably set up so that he would have to go Pro.

People get free ride thru college because either they excel scholasticly(ha ha I invented a word), or physcially.

They go to college, not to get an education, but to excel in their physcial ability.

Jerry Jones/Bill Parcels would, why? Jerry Jones is going to get a new stadium. One with a grass feild and a retractable roof. Its just a matter of time. Realistically it would take McGahee a year of rehab, and then a year as 3rd down guy, before he'd be a full time starter. I do see the Cowboys getting him if they have the chance in the 2nd or 3rd round.

no everybody doesn't know that b/c its WRONG. a properly repaired/rehab'd ACL is no more likely to tear than the other. The fact that this knee blew out has NOTHING to do with the fact that it happened in high school - "everyone" who saw the injury would know that. In fact, if this guy's ligaments had "never recovered" he'd be raking in that 2.5 mill b/c he would have destroyed his entire joint in the incident and would be livin it up at home on the couch in a full-leg cast.

There are plenty of guys in the NFL, NBA, MLS, and international soccer who have suffered ACL injuries and come back to play at full strength with no limitations and no lingering effects - not ALL are able to do so, as each case is different and the rebound depends on many variables (extent of injury, youth, healing ability of the individual, surgical success, rehab program, etc), but to write off someone b/c they had an ACL tear surgically repaired is just assinine in this day/age.

<--- tore MCL himself and had "medical clearance" (read: injured joint at equal strength to uninjured) in less than 25 weeks.
