OK, I got the new MCE2005 from the EGG for my new VISTA CUBE after a little tussel, I get it installed it loads for the first time. AND THERE'S NO IE? Without i386, file you don't do aything because all the connecton and network files are in there. I put the SP2 dsc in another pc and open the i386 file, and IT'S EMPTY! I THINK I have a workaround ,but,I'm not sure I think I could put in another nic, connect to the net, load it drivers and just download E7 and be ok. ANY input? The EGG says return the software, but it was a PITA to get MCE loaded on a New SEAGATE 250 SATA2 drive, and I'd rather repair this image instead.ANY input appreciated.

I don't really understand your question? The correct install procedure for Windows MCE is: Disk 1, then Disk 2, then Disk 1 again. The other disk it comes with is updates for AFTER it's installed (Rollup1 Rollup2, etc).

Just like Raduque said. Install disk 1, then 2, then-when it prompts you for the update disk-put disk 1 in again. After you complete the installation, add disk one and load optional components. I didn't load Internet Explorer so I don't know for sure if this works for IE, but you can always access IE by running MS Update. Update uses the IE browser to update.

My media edition apparently has no video encoder. What are people using for this? I can't find the DVD player that came with my video card.

I bought nVidia purevideo decoder, Joey. One of, if not the, best decoders around.

Thanks Rad. I'm waiting on a new video card for a new rig I'm building and hope it come with that decoder. If it doesn't, I'll have to buy it.

PowerDVD 5 works for me.

I know how to load mce, and I did it just like you said, but the end result was that the i386 file thats on the sp2 dsc isn't there.

I just got it from Newegg about two weeks ago and it installed fine.

When you say No IE, are you referring to no icon on your desktop? If so, it's still installed, just no icon on desktop unless you want it there. If you do, just right click on the desktop,
go to properties, desktop ->customize desktop, then select the icon.

a fresh install cured the problem Might have been a smudge on the disc or something It works now.
