MCE Recording Question

It looks to me as if the following features are not integrated into MCE although they would be quite cool and useful ... but maybe someone knows a trick or two about MCE that I do not know.

1. When you delete a recording or get all the options for it, there should be an option to delete and re-record. This would be especially handy if MCE screws up a recording (wrong channel) and you want to simply re-record.

2. I sometimes want to add a new recording even if the show/program isn't shown in the next two weeks. At the moment you can only add recordings for shows that are in the TV Guide.

1. Yeah, don't know about how you could go about that easily, you could change the settings to record all episodes (not just new), but you would get tons of duplicate shows. I'd think it would be easier to troubleshoot and fix your channel changing problems. I've never had MCE change to the wrong channel whether via IR Blaster or hacked Firewire changing. A good tip for the IR blaster is to tape it over the IR window on your STB with black tape so that no stray IR signals can interfere.
2. You could set a custom recording based off of a keyword and set the show's title as the keyword. It will record any shows with those keywords regardless of their show date, indefinitely into the future.

I've been using MCE for two years and Vista as a media center for a couple of months now. The only time I've had a problem with recording a show I've had is when it is pre-emptive by something. Fox does this a bit with the Simpsons when there is a sporting event before it.

There isn't an automatic way to do what you are thinking about, but I'm not sure if it's possible either. The easiest thing to do is to use the info button on the recorded/mis-recorded show select "other showings" you can then select to record another showing from there.
