MCE 2005 Problems

Okay, so I buy a Hauppauge 500PVR. It doesn't work, hangs on post. I RMA it. The new one hangs on post. I google it and find it's a bios problem with the K8VSE board.
I flash the bios to the new beta and I have sweet Hauppauge action (although it errors out after playing for awhile).

So now I plug in my MCE remote...
Windows won't find a driver for it. There are no drivers available out there. Turns out that MCE 2005 picks it up and installs it fresh, but I have a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard that's already taken up my HID device slot.
Still no wee-yoo on the remote, but it appears that having both IR devices is not going to fly.

So here I sit.
I guess my next move is to do a fresh install, let Windows find the remote, then install the logitech wireless stuff.
My guess is that when the Logitech installs it'll bork the remote and I'll be back at step A.

What's a work around for this mess?

Cliff notes...
1.) I'm fvcked.
2.) I need ideas on the quickest route to my next problem.
3.) ???
4.) Profit!
