I love their breakfast burritos. This would be cool.

McDonald's May Sell Breakfast All Day

LOS ANGELES (Sept. 20) - McDonald's Corp. may soon offer its breakfast menu all day long as a new restaurant layout will make it easier to prepare a wide variety of foods at once, its chief executive said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the Bank of America 36th Annual Investment Conference in San Francisco, McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner said the company was implementing a new restaurant operating system that would finally make selling breakfast all day possible.

"It's not compatible with our current operating system," Skinner said about offering its breakfast menu all day. "But with this system, that could be possible."

The so-called flexible operating platform will make McDonald's food preparation processes more transparent to customers and "offer more variety with greater ease," Skinner said.

Breakfast sales have been a key part of McDonald's three-year turnaround thanks in part to products like McGriddles sandwiches and a new, stronger coffee blend. But the restaurants stop serving breakfast late in the morning to switch over to burgers and other items for lunch and dinner.

The breakfast period has been the "strongest performer" among McDonald's three major meal segments in the last two to three years and remains "extremely strong," Chief Financial Officer Matthew Paull said during the presentation.

McDonald's shares edged up 21 cents, or 0.56 percent, to $37.79 early Wednesday afternoon on the New York Stock Exchange.

The "repost" posts should probably be toned down since the search utility on this site is borked (problem with indexing threads, I believe).

Yeah, the search is junk half the time, but I still managed to pick up the original without much difficulty.

The problem also is that half the time people don't make anything with a descriptive topic line. They'll just be like "YOU GOTTA SEE THIS" or whatever, which makes searching for video's nearly impossible.

Probably didn't show up because of the two different apostrophes.

As a former McSoldier, I have to say that breakfast and lunch/dinner items are very, very different. I'd have to see the new layout, but you also have to be concerned about freshness.

McDonald's keeps a bin full of meat/eggs based on how much usage they expect to have. They'd have to cook-to-order breakfast foods at lunch, and since there's a very wide variety of breakfast food components... I just don't see it being practical. I suppose this new design would have to be very different.

Though I have to say, I'm glad I don't have to worry about it anymore!

The sausage McGriddle is great when it's not soggy and doesn't give me diarrhea. But it usually gives me the 'rhea so I don't eat them.

I guess it depends on how much demand there is for breakfast foods at lunch time. If it's a light but steady demand, freshness shouldn't be a problem.

A McGriddle always looks so good on TV, but I don't want to eat it for breakfast and ruin the rest of my day with the McShits.

McDonald's breakfast is the only reason I would go to McD's now. Sausage McMuffins in the afternoon = awesome.

Better to savor that at the end of the day?
