my local mcd has disco'd the 1/3 lb angus.

apparently their fortey into the premium burger market to compete w/the likes of five guys and smashburger has failed.

now they're synergizing their bread and butter offerings.

regular quarter pounder $3.69
habanero ranch version 3.99
angus 4.29

blah.. for that kind of $ i rather have 4 mcdoubles

^^.

I've started buying BBQ sauce from my local BBQ place to go along with chicken nuggets. Man I want some now.

I haven't bought anything other than their value items in years. It fills me up and costs much less.

Is the Big Mac patty the size of a quarter yet?

no child, it is not

same size as the mcdouble patty. same amount of pattys but costs 3x as much as a mcdouble.
when r they going to bring back the .99 big mac?!

Why make something spicy, like a habanero burger, and then drench it in capsaicin-killing milk-based sauce? Kinda defeats the purpose.

it's not like mcd is gonna produce anything that's actually any spicy either way. they cater to the masses and the masses don't like real spice.

their angus burders aren't bad, but for the kind of money there are better places to eat. they've been trying to shake off their "value" image but mcd's is all about serviceable food at a reasonable cost.

It had nothing to do with Five Guys. They cut the burger because Beef prices have "doubled"

Why not just make your own burger? It costs less, tastes better and you can put what ever you want on it. It's not like a burger takes much time to make.

It's actually got a bit of bite to it, more so than about any other fast food item you can get. It's not that bad, again considering what your getting. I was on the road and stopped for a quick bite and I like spicy so I gave it a shot.

Because.. when I'm nowhere near around the house, am hungry, and want to get something for cheap, I don't tend to exactly have a walking kitchen with me to make a burger.

Is that really so hard to understand?

what was that again? I mean, i know the habanero ranch quarter pounder does not constitute a food item that is made from anything logically edible.

McDonalds isn't about taste, it's about convenience. I sure as shit don't go there because they have the best burgers in town... in fact, if there is pretty much any other restaurant around, I'll take it over McD's.

Agreed.

While it's easy to say there are better and healthier options, you really can't fault someone for stopping by if it's convenient.
It's still food. I'm surprised by how elitist, picky, and spoiled some people can be. It's not the healthiest, but for for most of human history man has struggled to survive, millions have died from starvation in the last century alone, and we complain that sanitary, inexpensive food can be had in less than 5 minutes waiting time.

I'm not even saying that as someone who loves fast food or who even eats fast food anymore.

I read an article around a week or two ago about the demise of the Mcd's Angus burger. Basically the decision was made because the dollar menu is killing the higher priced items. Just as someone earlier mentioned, they could buy 4 or 5 McDoubles from the dollar menu rather than 1 single Angus burger. It's a no-brainer for someone who is hungry with little cash.

I was a fan of the Angus burgers, but rarely do I eat at McD's. and when I do, it is the dollar menu. I like the McDouble, and it is a great little snack / filler when out shopping with the fam. Easy, cheap, and convenient. Rarely do I go to McD's for a "meal".

Edit: Here's the article I mentioned earlier:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/mcdonalds-cuts-angus-burgers-menu-180448341.html

But Richard Adams, who consults McDonald's franchisees, said that the Dollar Menu has also made the Angus burger a less attractive option at around $4 to $5.
"When you can get four or five burgers off the Dollar Menu, nobody's going to buy the Angus burger," he said. "The Dollar Menu has become a real problem for these chains."

You're in TX. I'd take Whataburger over McD any day of the week.
