I'm hoping someone from this forum has at some point worked at McDonalds or knows someone who has could tell me how the paties are cooked. Is the patty pre-made from the factory and all they do is defrost and squeeze on their wonderful magical machines for a few minutes then voila ?

I'm just wodnering..

We ram these down our throats every day and don't even know how it's made.. well, most of us anyways.

Whoa! Slow down turbo, don't get ahead of yourself. This is really how it goes:

When a mommy cow and a daddy cow love each other very much...;)

Yes i'm pretty sure that's how it goes, because they don't brag about flame broiled like BK

I don't want to know.

I don't want to know.

I don't want to know.

I don't want to ever know.

For I've seen the faces of those that do the cooking.

Indeed, I don't ever, ever want to know.

It actually takes about 30 minutes to prepare a mcdonalds hamburger from start to finish...

28 minutes of that it is sitting in a tub of grease...

They come frozen in cases, seperated by little wax tissues. Then, they are thawed in the walk-in, and pulled from there for cooking. Same way most burger chains do it.

Well, I have not worked at McDonalds in about 6 years but I could tell you how they used to do it. I am sure it is the same.

Starting off, yes the beef patties are frozen and come in a box of about 200 or so. The frozen patties are dropped on a steel grill, usually about 15 or so at a time, and a hood with a teflon sheet is pulled down over the patties. The hood automatically pops up after about 2 minutes or so, and there you have your cooked burger. The cooked burgers are put in a warming oven until they are dressed and slid down the chute to go out front.

Ack, talk about bringing back some bad memories. :(

On big giant George Foreman electric grills.

Bottom Temp: 350°F
Top Temp: 425°F

Toss the premade patties on the grill frozen, close the top. 42 seconds later, the top opens. Done.

You've got that right, bro. I really don't need that information in my head, but sadly, there it is. I wish it would go away.

BTW, the meat is 100% raw to start with.

Quarter pounders cook for 108 seconds. 108 might be wrong. If so, I'm on road to recovery.

So many different answers. Does that mean that each McD franchise prepares their "patties" differently?

Not that I care, though. I stopped going to McD for a long time and now I'm enjoying my T-bone. :) YUM! Now this is what I call "beef."

No, they're prepared the same way everywhere. The raw meat is shipped and stored in wax coated cardboard boxes weighing like 35-40 pounds. It's frozen up to the moment it's cooked.
