Obstruction of campaigning now?

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/05/mcconnell-cancels-most-of-august-recess-625905

Mitch McConnell is canceling all but a week of the Senate's traditional August recess, hoping to keep vulnerable Democrats off the campaign trail and confirm as many of President Donald Trump's judicial and executive branch nominees as possible.

The Senate majority leader said Tuesday that the Senate will only take a break for the first week of August because of "historic obstruction" by Senate Democrats and will stay in session the rest of the month. McConnell was under enormous pressure from his own caucus as well as the president to cancel as much of the recess as possible, but the majority leader also saw an opportunity to unite Republicans and annoy incumbent Democrats.

"The August recess has been canceled. Senators should expect to remain in session in August to pass legislation, including appropriations bills, and to make additional progress on the president’s nominees," McConnell said.

More than a dozen Senate Republicans had been clamoring for McConnell to kill the traditional summer break, particularly after the GOP leader shaved off a week of August recess last year. And while those senators celebrated, they also asked for more, since the Senate is typically only in session from late Monday afternoon until early afternoon Thursday each week.....

I hope McConnel dies a painful slow death and all the voters who keep him in suffer similar fates

To sum up events to date, hours after Justice Antonin Scalia's death last February, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell announced that there would be no hearings, no votes, no action whatsoever, on any Supreme Court nomination until the American people got to vote on a new president.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz) said Monday that if Hillary Clinton is elected, Republicans will unite to block anyone she nominates to the Supreme Court.

Speaking on WPHT-AM radio's "Dom Giordano Program" in Philadelphia, McCain pledged to obstruct any Clinton Supreme Court nomination for the current or any future vacancy.

The Turtle Strikes Again.

That could be about his appearance, but it's how he pulls his head into his shell to keep out all concerns about the state of the nation.

Someone help me out. I totally get the ulterior motive here. And I totally get the hypocrisy of Pubs calling this historic obstruction in light of what they did during Obama's tenure.

What I'm trying to figure out is, what are Democrats really doing at all to stop presidential appointee confirmations?

Using Senate procedure to slow them down. The tactic does bear some fruit as nominees have withdrawn, had some terrible scandal from their past surfaced, or already became casualties of a WH in chaos.

I figured he canceled break because he's scared Sessions will get fired and a recess appointment will be named.

You may recall they asked candidates to meet bare minimum standards such as having experience practicing law or something as simple as being able to their shoes

McConnell proving once again that, while shrewd, he's an epic bag of douche who views democracy and other Americans as obstacles. As if his horrendous tax bill or shameful treatment of Merrick Garland and Obama voters wasn't enough.

The one turtle I wouldn't swerve for.

May all these party before country asshats get a resounding FU in November, otherwise this country is fuct.

Mitch McConnell is fucking awful. Period.

And damned good at it, too. Oddly enough, 24 Dem Senators & 6 GOP Senators are up for re-election. Those 6 look pretty safe.

Did anybody really think that Mitch would pass up such sweet, sweet fuckin'? Not on your life.
