Then yes, McCain/Palin is leading by negative 190 electoral votes.

But, but, but...Palin activated the base!!!!

I agree on one thing, Palin activated the republican base. The GOP's problem is that Palin activated the the larger democratic base who are determined not to have Palin a heart beat away from the Presidency.

Dick Cheney with lipstick is a prospect too horrible to contemplate.

How?? Do you still have Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan on your map for McCain? If you do, you're a moron and that's the only way you could have come up with those numbers...

I loathe cheney, but he is intelligent. palin is clearly a moron of dumbya stature, dumbya kept expectations low, but she'd have that bar lowered even more.

Thats nice conjecture, but not realistic, unless something major happens to benefit McCain... Really Major like Obama found guilty of a huge scandal, or Iran detonates a nuke inside Isreal, proving McCain right. I mean come one, Obama is up by 15 points in Pennsylvania, and you give it to McCain

http://www.realclearpolitics.c...cain_vs_obama-244.html

Even Carl Rove has more realistic expectations than you

His entire prediction hinges on Obama losing Pennsylvania, a state where he has consistently held high single-digit or even double-digit leads for weeks.

McCain 2000 didn't deserve this. McCain 2008 does.

Dave has Obama losing PA (where he's ahead by about 13 points) but winning VA (where he's ahead by about half that amount). As long as you realize that Dave has a predetermined outcome (McCain winning), then all these things will make sense. Every time a state flips to Obama, Dave arbitrarily flips enough other states to ensure McCain still wins, he just hopes that nobody notices.

Secondly while he pisses and moans about Bush(he voted twice for him) and rips on McCain. What does anybody want to bet Dave votes for McCain on Nov 4th?

The most likely scenario (in fact, perhaps the only reasonable scenario) where McCain wins is one in which he carries Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Missouri, Indiana, Colorado, and Nevada. Essentially it would have to be the same map as 2004 except Obama would also carry New Mexico and Iowa (which still wouldn't be enough - he still needs 5 EVs on top of those).

Also, it's much more likely that McCain wins the popular vote but loses the electoral vote than the reverse of Obama winning the popular vote but losing the electoral vote. FiveThirtyEight.com says the former is almost 10x more likely than the latter.

Not only is PA in play but New Jersey too.
