McCain: I don't agree with British war memo

"The memo was made public earlier this month by the Times of London newspaper. British officials did not dispute its authenticity.

McCain, speaking on ABC's "This Week," said he has not seen any evidence that the Bush administration manipulated evidence, but admitted that "certain serious mistakes [were] made."

"But I do not believe that the Bush administration decided that they would set up a scenario that gave us the rationale for going into Iraq," the Arizona Republican said."

So McCain is saying: "I choose not believe the truth."

McCain: Out of touch. Out of his mind. Not going to be the next president! nada.
Actually if he had said that he believed the Dub and his cohorts manipulated evidence he wouldn't stand a chance of getting the nomination of the Republican Party. By stating that he believes mistakes were made he is in a sense is sayiong that the Dub fscked up without actually coming out and saying the Dub fscked up. Political Double Talk which is something all prominent politicians have to partake in if they have aspirations of achieving higher office.

Actually, seeing McCain on one of the Sunday morning talk shows, I'm changing my mind that he definitely won't run to the opinion that we will probably see him run.

That said, it looks Bi-Polar McCain is still at it. One minute it seems he's standing up for what's right (esp. re:his stance on Abu Ghraib and torture) and the next he's whoring himself out to the Propagandist.

Such is politics

Once Stephanopolous (sp?) started asking about that memo, you can see that McCain got NOTICABLY uncomfortable. He KNEW he was going to whore himself.

What respect I had left for McCain is now gone. It's a real pity that he has become what he is. 🙁

McCain says something people don't agree with and all of a sudden he's a pandering sycophant?

Of course, tomorrow he goes against the Bush administration and he is the best thing since sliced bread.

Like I said earlier, such is politics.

I couldn't agree more with your statement. I realize he has to play the game, but he is just outright lying about it now. He knows better.

Kerry would have made the same statement if asked the same question.

Perhaps. but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Not the farm, just an election, huh? An election, I might add, that was the ONLY way to get this idiot out of office.

He had a point. Corruption and arrogance aren't monopolized by the right. They're just more hypocritical about it.

I don't want to waste time talking about water under the bridge which is all the last election amounts to now. It was my understanding that Kerry supported the war based on the information he had at the time. I doubt that he would be willing to let the Bush administration off as easily as McCain has in regards to these recently leaked documents.

McCains whole defense is based on the "clear intent" of Saddam to get WMD's. To quote McCain himself:

"But to somehow suppose that if we had not attacked Saddam Hussein, that everything would have been fine in Iraq, I think defies the history of Saddam Hussein and his attempts to acquire and use weapons of mass destruction."

What we do know is that Saddam didn't have WMD's, so the UN inspections were working and we clearly could have waited longer to get more world support. It obvious to me that the Bushites did everything they could to stampede public opinion into support for the war.

For McCain to stand up and now and say it only amounted to "certain serious mistakes" by the Bush administration is a big mistake on his part. President Bush hasn't addressed this memo himself, why should McCain unless he's just looking for political favors/support?
