McAfee VirusScan - can't update!

I decided to go out and buy a completely legit copy of VirusScan just so I wouldn't have any problems, and now the Instant Updater feature is crapping out on me. I just get an error stating that "VSMain has encountered a problem and needs to close." I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. Is this a known problem? I guess I'll give it a shot on another computer just to see what's going on. I can't even get the DATs from the website, since it doesn't seem to list them for version 7.0 (the program is supposed to update itself, but obviously I can't do that).

Can anyone help?

I'm not sure why your auto-update isn't working. If you click on the link for the DAT updates for version 6, the next page will say "DAT files for version 6 and higher" or something like that.

The DAT file currently available is good for all versions above 5 - that includes 7.0. As for auto update - I never use that stuff - stay in control!

I updated 7.0 today with 4231X.DAT. :)

I assume you completely uninstalled any previous version prior to installing 7.0? You might try uninstalling it completely and reinstalling. I bought the downloaded version - and have had zero problems with it.

Well, I just turned off the Auto Updater. I figured in this new version you couldn't do that, but its still an option and I can remember to get the updates myself. I'd like it to work perfectly, but I just don't have the time right now.

Thanks! :)
