I own the McAfee 2005 virusscan/firewall package. A number of my friends are telling me I'd be better off going with the free AVG now rather than the McAfee due to the fact I like gaming and McAfee takes up more resources than AVG. I'm not sure what to do and would like some advice. Thanks

I suggest you check out Eset's NOD32 I use it it's great software, and the amount of system resources it uses is very very small.

Or Anti-Vir
http://www.free-av.com/

Anti-Vir is considered to have the best detechtion rate of all the free ones. It doesn't use a lot of resources either.

While AntiVir has a good detection rate, it pales in comparison to the free AOL Kaspersky.

I replaced McAfee 10 on three systems with AVG. Tried Avast, and Kaspersky. Kaspersky screwedf up my off-line defrag options of NTFS system files - other than that is was good. But, AVG works best for me. I don't need the best detection rate since my personal AV is a second line of defense - my ISP being first (They use McAfee.)
