I got it installed just fine and updated. The problem is with Mcafee customer service and tech support free chat. Last night, I get told there should be a key code. Customer service says today there is not a key code. OK, I can accept that. How do I register the damn software? She sends me a link that scans the mcafee installation to get the email address that it is registered to. I'm telling her it won't work, and it does not.
I go online to my newly created Mcafee account. It says I don't have any registered software.. try to register it, thinking maybe they have a process that scans the installation to get the serial number. Nope.
All it asks for is the product code. Big help. It still says I don't have any registered software. Then I see a page that says I can only register software purchased directly from them. WTF?
Finally, I get a tech on the free chat that says do a right click on the M icon . And there it is folks, you register it there. It connects up to Mcafee via your online account, and now I see my 3 user software is noted there. That only took 3 hours of chat to get it. He then says customer service chat should have told me this in the first place. Good script for a Bollywood production
I assume they encrypt the serial number within the CD, since I still don't see any serial number within the Mcafee security console.
