McAfee AV offered by Comcast any good?

I'm a Comcast customer and my Norton Internet Security runs out in 27 days. I've been using "Avast! Free" on pc builds and upgrades for friends and family but I also have McAfee available thru Comcast.

I'm reluctant to use McAfee cause I recall when last downloaded from Comcast it seemed to run processes in the background that used substantial cycles. Should I just stick with the free Avast! or go with the free and more comprehensive McAfee from Comcast?

BTW, how is nod32 AV these days? I have an unopened copy of 3.0 I can upgrade for my Win7 notebook. Obviously, on my notebook I'm thinking lean.
