McAfee Anti Virus 2006... They dont' ask for serial code?

Ok, i just got McAfee AV 2006 and i installed it and i was looking for serial code everywhere because i thought i lost it in the box or cd... but it turns out, the software never asks for it..

Am i seeing stuff or does McAfee not incorporate serial keys into their software anymore? Woudln't this contribute more to piracy?

I have McAfee on one pc, never had to deal with S#. They have me log in to their server before I download updates. They only do it once a month or so.

I don't trust McAfee to keep my systems safe. They are usually way behind in definintions updates.

I use McAfee Freescan occasionally. But, I don't think I really need it.

I saw some tests with Kaspersky and it was apparently a very good one.

I found however, on my old machine, it would slow down when antivirus was running in the background.

Yeah, my new setup is powerful, but I'd rather format/re-install. I use my old machine for file sharing so... 🙂
