There's days here in Northern California when I ride that are 100+ degrees.
I need a cooler armored jacket. Basically a screen door made of Kevlar with pads in shoulders, elbows and back.
Anyone have one or know of one?
No budget.

Also, anyone own Draggin Jeans?

Take a look at Joe rocket ballistic jackets. I got mine for 150 last summer. Water proof and you can take out the rain layer for hotter days. I ride with it in 80 d degree weather and I don't get hot at all.

Try Cycle Gear. They usually have a pretty decent selection and their return policy is very liberal.

I have a mesh jacket and even though it is black it is much cooler than wearing leather especially when the temps are above 80. It is a flimsy piece of crap though and I don't think it would hold up well in a crash but it is a lot better than a t-shirt... even a Corona t-shirt. Definitely a one use garment.

I don't care how perforated your leather is, you will sweat like you just got caught raping your mom on the night of her 3rd marriage to her Hells Angel fiance when it is hot out.

I have a pair of Cortech jeans lined with kevlar and internal knee padding but IMO the jeans are too loose in the legs to have the padding be of much use in a get off. They are comfortable though. You could buy some padding that you can strap on to your knees under the jeans that would be more effective.

Can't go wrong with Dainese or Alpinestars. As long as it fits properly. With motorcycle gear, tighter is better.

I own the following jackets. Here's how they rate in terms of air flow relative to each other, IMO

Alpinestars CR-one Suit - B+
Shift Streetfighter Leather/Textile Jacket - C
Teknic Mercury Perforated Leather Jacket - B-
Joe Rocket Sonic 2.0 Leather/Mesh Jacket - unrated
Speed & Strength Moment of Truth Mesh Jacket - A+

varying price points and levels of protection.

for SoCal, I'd recommend a perforated leather jacket like the Teknic Mercury or equivalent. It doesn't get too hot or too cold (from what I've been told and the current West LA weather which I'm enjoying). You get the best of both worlds for SoCal weather, and if you need to layer up, you can throw a thermal or windbreaker underneath.

Alternatively, if you wanted a little more flexibility with a little less abrasion resistance, you could go with a textile jacket that will offer similar/better air flow, and they will generally have a windproof/wind-resistant liner included.

No experience with Draggin Jeans - many kevlar jeans appear to offer good abrasion resistance. What they will NOT offer is impact resistance. Keep that in mind when gearing yourself out.

For pants, I have Joe Rocket Ballistic 5.0 pants as well as Teknic Chicane pants. I run the JR's around town and the Teknic pants on more serious/spirited rides.

Gloves? No reason not to go full-length, perforated gauntlet, IMO. They're no better or worse to get on and off.

Boots - sturdy boots, preferably riding boots. I have Alpinestars Roam WP and CR-4 Gore-Tex XCR Boots. The first I wear for longer/serious rides, the others I wear to work.

Helmet - full face or bust, IMO. MAKE SURE IT FITS YOUR HEAD PROPERLY BY GETTING FIT IN PERSON. Any DOT/Snell helmet will work. Some people argue over having DOT-only vs. DOT+Snell. I don't know enough to make any particular judgement. If you plan on going to the track, most places will require Snell approved helmets. Higher end makes like Shoei and Arai may offer more features, comfort, or have a better shape for your particular head. Price does not necessarily guarantee protection, though.

ok, I think I'm done. Yes, I'm a gear whore 🙂

I've got the gloves and boots covered. No trousers though. You can get pads in the draggin jeans but unless the user sews them in, they don't stay in place.
I like wearing subdued clothing. I hate logos and more than 2 colors. Adding textile trousers to my present jacket would make me feel like a lighthouse. (Though if I was touring I'd wear a hi vis jacket). I do need to get some lower protection though.

A few things. Mesh might not be the best thing for really hot days.

I have cheap yoshimura mesh jacket that I have. It's better than nothing but it honestly feels like you're wearing a net. I just picked up an alpinestars that's 50% textile and 50% mesh. Definitely feels more protective and armor fits better. Still moves air pretty good. For budget mesh gear you could look at Olympia airglides, BMW, Revit stuff. I have olympia airglide overpants and they are pretty awesome. Move a lot of air. I use them when I commute to the office.

For high end gear you can look at Aerostitch and Motorport. Both are customized to your specs. Motorport uses a really strong kevlar but the drawback is it supposedly is really stiff.

Draggin jeans. There's actually 2 different companies. The american company aka Fast Company and the Austrailian brand. I have the draggin liners by the American company. They go under jeans and you can attach armor to them. They work well and should have good abrasian resistance. The jeans should be good also. They have coupons posted on their facebook very often. The aussie company supposedly uses a superiour type of kevlar and it feels softer/more comfortable. Also their designs are more fashionable IMHO and to most other people. If you reallly want fashionable riding jeans there's a company called maple that makes selvedge kevlar jeans. Mucho dinero though.

For the most part most of the stock armor for the cheaper mesh gear will need to be replaced. I think the aussie draggin jeans come with knox armor for certain products. You can buy sas tech armor with the american draggin jean products.

I am guessing that you don't ride.
Mostly scooters.

I forgot - for anything over 98.6 degrees you will actually want a non-vented jacket (or vented plus a wind breaker) and probably a water-cooled vest, FYI.

Heat transfer goes from hot to cold. When ambient is above body temp, more ventilation means you will get hotter faster
