I recently heard about this guy, MC Lars, who describes his music as "post-punk laptop rap". It's kinda nerdy/techy music, but no so much that it sounds stupid. The guy puts out music on his own label (no riaa) and encourages file-sharing.

He's got a song called "Hot Topic is Not Punk Rock", a song that samples music from Tetris for the beat, a song making fun of commercial hp-hop, and plenty more.
This isn't really my favorite genre, but I think his music is fun, and the lyrics really should appeal to a lot of people on these forums.
